How long have you been playing Poker and how did you start?
I’ve been playing poker for almost five years now and started playing whilst at university. A friend introduced me to online sit and gos. Shortly after I started playing cash games and somehow managed to make enough to build an initial bankroll.
What would you be doing if you hadn’t discovered Poker?
I have no idea. Probably trying to work my way up the ladder in a more traditional profession.
What do you enjoy most about the game?
I enjoy the competition. I also like the fact that the amount of money I make directly correlates to the results of my work, although this can also be the worst thing about poker.
What major purchases have you made with your winnings?
None. I just put it on the pile.
Which games would we find you at playing online?
Right now I’m playing multi-table tournaments. I’m trying to find a place in London with online superstar Mickey Petersen. He’s a true grinder and I’m hoping some of his work ethic rubs off on me.
How many tables do you play simultaneously?
This depends on the game and stakes that I am playing. If I’m playing high stakes cash or important tournaments, maybe only 1-6 tabling. But if it was early in an MTT session, I could easily be 15+ tabling.
Favourite non-premium hand in NLH?
No favourites, I don’t discriminate. Maybe one-colour 8 and 7 though.
Favourite Poker player?
Randy Dorfman
Most feared opponent?
Phil Ivey (assuming the answer ‘none’ doesn’t apply!)
Are you superstitious?
No
What’s the strangest thing that’s happened to you at the table?
I’m not sure. Nothing comes to mind. Every day is so different that strange things are the norm.
What advice would you give a new player trying to take their game to the next level?
Work hard and re-evaluate. Then take shots. If you come across a stumbling block, it can help to talk to players whose play you respect. They might be able to give a fresh perspective. If this doesn’t work, talk to more people and come to your own conclusions.
What attributes make a great Poker Player?
Intelligence, patience, emotional control, work ethic, determination and confidence.
How do you handle going on tilt?
By just not tilting anymore. Play good: good things happen.
Fantasy WSOP ME Final Table: who would be there?
Me and the worst players you can find.
Best Poker book you’ve read?
Probably The Theory of Poker by David Sklanksy.
What’s on your ipod?
Watch the Throne by Jay-Z and Kanye West
Favourite game?
Fifa 11...soon to be 12.
What are your goals over the next year?
Live good, enjoy life, work hard and win.
