Last to Act

In the previous post, we dealt with “First to Act” play. Next we take up “Last to Act”. The difference is significant. Using first to act to win pots involves stealth and cunning. Last to act is simply a powerful position and should be used to dominant your opponents.

Position is a powerful tool in poker, in no limit betting structures position is magnified. Last to act has such a powerful advantage in a no limit game that often earlier acting players will simply fold to action from the last player to act. Players may not feel they are beat by the last to act player but they simply do not have a strong enough hand to stand up to bets on the flop, turn and river from an aggressive last to act player.

When you have a positional advantage in poker, you must push that edge with betting strength. Last to Act is the most powerful positional advantage in poker, when you have it, use it.
