First Time Playing Online
First, online software has a lot of variation between sites. How you view the table, where you sit, how you bet and raise and fold are different on every site. You should be comfortable with a site and its software before you invest any significant time and definitely before you risk your money.
Sure you should be playing on a site that gives you best chance for winning but what combination of software add-ons are right for you depend on your style of play. There are decisions to be made before you play a single hand for cash. Here are just a few examples.
Lots of the sites have avatars at the table and lots of different tables color palettes and designs. When I play I want all of that extra screen clutter shut-off. I want to see cards and chip counts and that’s it. So I do not play on sites where I cannot turn off all of the extra eye candy. I also do not want extra sounds; one beep when it is my turn to act and nothing more. I want to be able to turn off all table chat.
I also want a smooth interface for making a raise. I want to be able to type in my bet and/or have a slider button that actually has some control to it. I don’t want the bet to jump from 60 to 600 with just a slight move of the cursor. But these are the things I want on a site for the way I play. You make your own decisions and the best way, the safest way and the less expensive way is to try several sites on the play money side. Get a feel for which software works best for you; then and only then you can take a look at how the games play on the cash side.
